Remote keyless entry devices operate car door locks by synchronising with the car's computer. The process for synchronising (or programming) a keyless remote requires following a series of methodical steps; the steps vary with each manufacturer. In many Mazda vehicles, the programming procedure varies with different models. The following procedures work for Mazda vehicles with "switchblade" keys or standard keys; they are not applicable to the Mazda Smart Key system.
