The Ford Mondeo, marketed in the North America as the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique, uses a plastic headlight enclosure and a halogen bulb to power the headlight system. This means you do not replace the plastic enclosure when the headlight fails. You simply replace the halogen bulb. This helps to save money and makes the task much simpler.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open the engine bonnet. Locate the clear front portion of the lens on the outside of the Ford, then look to the rear of the clear lens located inside the engine bay. The rear of the enclosure has a large harness connected to a light socket and a small harness connected to a light socket. The headlight is the larger of the two harnesses.

  2. 2

Grasp the socket connected to the wiring harness with your hand and turn it a quarter turn counterclockwise.

  3. 3

Pull the socket and the halogen light free of the plastic enclosure.

  4. 4

Pull the halogen light out of the socket, then push the new halogen light onto the socket.

  5. 5

Put the halogen light into the enclosure and turn the socket a quartet turn clockwise to lock the socket onto the plastic headlight enclosure.
