iTunes is a music management program produced by Apple. But the software is more than just a music program, it is Apple's program to update and synchronise its devices. Importing your contacts lists into iTunes allows you to synchronise e-mail addresses, names and phone numbers between your iPod Touch or iPhone portable media devices. This will allow you to quickly get in contact with someone with just the push of a few buttons.
