According the National Fire Protection Association, 84 per cent of all civilian fire deaths result from home structure fires. To protect yourself, you need to protect your home. Many lamp shades are made out of cloth, and that cloth will spread fire quickly if the bulb it's shading catches fire. One preventive step you can take is to cover the lamp shade in your home with fire retardant. It's a quick and easy step to making your home safe.
