Ford vehicles built in the 1990s and 2000s were equipped with a keyless entry system using a five-button pad on the driver's door. This keyless entry system comes programmed with a five-digit entry code. While you cannot alter the preset code on these vehicles, you can enter a personal entry code, which can be used to open the locks on your Ford car or truck.

Tips and warnings

  • The entry keypad is designed for situations in which you wish to lock you vehicle and do not want to have to carry keys, such as trips to the beach.
  • Keep a copy of the factory preset entry code in your wallet or purse and one at home. You can hide a spare key inside the vehicle. Then if you loose your keys, you can still enter the car and drive home.
