NHS dentists are those who administer care under the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. Not all dentists in the UK perform services under the NHS, but the NHS does keep an online registry of those dentists who do. By visiting this registry and entering their location or other search criteria, people in the UK can locate these dentists. Help lines are available for those having trouble finding an NHS dentist.

Instructions

    Finding an NHS Dentist

  1. 1

Visit the NHS Service Directories Site (see Resources below). The default option on this page is "General Practitioners," so you will need to click on the "Dentists" icon under "Find and choose services" in order to locate a dentist.

  2. 2

Input your search criteria in the grey bar; to search for an NHS dentist in your area, you can enter your postcode, location, or the name of the dentist's practice. Then press enter or click the "Search" button.

  3. 3

Review your search results. If there is more than one page of results for your area, you can continue onto the next page by clicking on "Next 10" at the bottom of the results.

  4. 4

Select the name of a practice to review its information, including address and phone number. To return to the list of results, select the back button in your browser.

Tips and warnings

  • On the search results page, a number will appear at the bottom of every result to call if you are having trouble getting NHS dentistry service in your area.
