Since the beginning of the age of caller ID, we have been able to know who is calling before answering the phone. Unfortunately, knowing a phone number does not always tell us who or where they are. Thankfully, there are ways to find out using something called a reverse number search. There are free searches that will allow you to find a person or business if their landline phone is registered in any phone book. However, if you wish to find someone using a cell phone number, you will probably have to pay to do so.

Tips and warnings
- For unlisted numbers and cell phone numbers, a background search service such as intelius.com is the best way to go. For a small fee, you are able to get all current information on the owner of the phone number. This information include name, address, age and more depending on the type of search.
