The Micra was Nissan's answer to the need for a small fuel-efficient city car, as the Micra is able to weave through inner city traffic with ease while still being able to take long trips with a reasonable amount of luggage. Sometimes the Micra will need minor maintenance issues taken care of, such as the changing the headlights. As with most newer cars today, the Micra has an integrated headlight system, and all that needs to be replaced are the headlight bulbs (either for the high or low beams), saving the consumer money, time and headaches. Changing the headlights on a Nissan Micra is a quick and painless process.

Examine the back of the headlight and use the screwdriver to remove the mounting bolts of the headlight.

Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of headlight by turning the cylinder sticking from the back of the headlight (the ballast/bulb mount) counterclockwise.

Disconnect the inner clips holding the bulb in place and slide the bulb out. Slide the new bulb in and reconnect the retainer clips.

Press the bulb into the ballast and reconnect the wiring harness. Remount the headlight with the mounting screws.

TIP

You may want to check the alignment of the headlights after you install the new bulbs by shining the lights on a nearby building. They should be even and straight ahead in both the high and low settings.
