How to wash hair after a perm
Wait at least 24 hours after a perm to wash hair. (taliesin:

After perming your hair, it is important to help it adjust to the chemicals and recover from the perming process. Allow the hair to neutralise the chemicals from the perm simply by receiving the oxygen from the air. Subjecting hair to shampoo or even just hot water too soon after a perm will open the hair shafts, which might cause the hair to go back to its natural condition. That means that if your hair is naturally straight, washing it too quickly after a perm will relax and ruin the perm curls.

Wait at least 24 hours after perming to wash your hair. For best results, consider waiting as long as 72 hours.

Select a shampoo and conditioner that are specifically made for chemically treated hair. These shampoos are more gentle and do not contain harsh ingredients that might dry out permed hair.

Lather hair and rinse well with warm water.

Use the conditioner after the shampoo. For best results, an amount the size of a nickel is sufficient. Follow the conditioner instructions and leave the conditioner on your hair for the recommended time. Rinse well.

Dry your hair very gently with a towel to remove as much excess moisture as possible. Do not rub too briskly with the towel, however, because this can create unnecessary tangles and damage the effect of the perm. For best results, try air-drying.

Spray the detangling product on your hair and comb it through your hair very gently with a wide-toothed comb or, preferably, simply your fingers.
