Palamos is a resort town located in the Costa Brava, which stretches from Blanes to Spain's border with France. Along with Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, Costa Brava is one of the country's main holiday coasts. Visitors can enjoy diving in the Illes Formigues islets off the coast between Palamos and Calella de Palafrugell and visit to the remains of a 6th- to 1st-century-BC settlement near Platja del Castell south of Palamos. Visitors can reach the community by travelling to airports in Barcelona or Girona, which are under two hours from the beach resort town. While discount airlines offer connections between European cities and Girona, several international flights are provided from Barcelona.
