KitchenAid stand mixers make dough, batter, whipped cream and more. Just like all other kitchen appliances, KitchenAid stand mixers occasionally fail to work properly. KitchenAid offers free repair or replacement service for one year following a new stand mixer purchase. For repairs after warranty, call Kitchenaid's customer service number at 1-800-541-6390. 1. 1

Check the electrical plug connection. Try other electrical sockets to determine whether the outlet is malfunctioning. Ensure the circuit's fuse is not blown and ensure the breaker is open.

  2. 2

Turn off and unplug the mixer if it still fails to work.

  3. 3

Install the flat beater by sliding it on the beater shaft until it clicks into position. Install the bowl by placing it on the mixer plate and turning it in a clockwise direction until secured.

  4. 4

Move the beater around to see if it hits the side of the bowl. If the beater hits the bowl, remove the beater and bowl and pull back the mixer head.

  5. 5

Locate the screw near the mixer head hinge and turn the screw slightly counter-clockwise. Reinstall the bowl and beater to check for proper beater positioning

  6. 6

Plug the mixer in and turn on. Call a repair service if the mixer still does not work.
