Baby shower bouquets add an extra bit of fun and decoration to any shower. These can be made with a variety of items but are typically created with actual baby items that the mom-to-be will be able to use later for the infant as opposed to a flower or candy bouquet. Baby shower bouquets are easy to make and will be sure to bring a smile to everyone's face. Baby socks and baby clothing shower bouquets are great choices for items to use for the flowers to create the bouquet look.
Lay out all your baby socks. Take one sock and lay it flat. Start at the toe and roll the sock, make sure the toe points up at an angle so you have a "pursed lip" looking opening or a hole. You should only have to roll the sock three times or so as they are tiny.
Take the opening of the sock (the top of the sock) and turn it inside out over the roll so it rolls up the rolled section. Pull the inside out section of the sock up about halfway up the roll. Straighten the "rose" out and pull the inside of the rose bud opening out a bit to make it look even more like a rose.
Cut a 12-inch long piece of floral wire. With your fingers bend the wire back and forth to create a wave like pattern. Stick one end of the floral wire in the bottom of the sock rose. Push it up as far as you can without the wire poking through the top.
Wrap floral tape around the rose about halfway up the sock. Wrap it tightly down continuing in a circle all the way down the rose and the wire covering every inch.
Repeat steps 1-4 for as many baby sock roses as you would like. Then take all the baby sock roses and arrange them as a bouquet in a vase. Add baby's breath, fake leaves or other filler to make it look even more like a flower bouquet.
Choose a variety of baby clothing items such as bibs, onesies, shirts, trousers, even burp clothes and blankets. Take each item and lay it out flat. Roll one item at a time into a funnel like shape.
Wrap a rubber band around the bottom of each rolled item about 1/3 of the way up. This will serve as the base of the "flower." Take a dowel rod and stick it into the bottom of the rolled up flower clothing. Push it in at least one inch so it is secure.
Take floral tape and wrap it around the base of the flower (the clothing and the stick) so the clothing remains securely on the stick. Then gently pull apart the top layers of rolled item and fold them outward so they resemble flower petals.
Take off the leaves from fake flowers or fake leaf stems. Tape a couple leaves on each dowel stick to make the flowers look more like actual flowers.
Find a large vase. Fill the bottom with baby items such as pacifiers, rattles, toys and other small items. Stick the dowel stick baby item flowers inside the vase and arrange as a bouquet.
Make the bouquets coordinate with the theme or colour scheme of the shower.
Don't wait until the last minute to make the bouquets, plan ahead.
