LED grow panels provide an energy-efficient way to grow indoor plants. These lights use only 10 per cent of the energy that other types of lights use, and the bulbs have a much longer lifespan. They also can be tailored to fit the exact needs of your seedlings. Plants require blue light to produce foliage and red light to flower. By combining these two colours of LED lights into a grow panel, you can give your plants what they need.

Things you need
- 5 cm (2 inch) thick wooden board, 90 cm by 1.2 m (3 feet by 4 feet)
- Power drill
- Small and large drill bits
- Blue and red LED lights
- Glue gun
- Utility knife
Drill holes in the wooden board with the drill and small bit, space the holes 8.7 cm (3 1/2 inches) apart in uniform rows. Leave a space about 15 cm (6 inches) wide around the edge.
Push one LED light bulb through each hole in the wooden board, until the first string is finished. Plug the second string of lights into the first and continue to insert the lights until all the holes are filled.
Attach the lights to the board using a hot-glue gun. Place the tip of the glue gun on the board underneath the cord and gently pull the trigger to release a drop of glue. Press each length of cord into the hot glue until it dries. For every 7.5 cm (3 inch) length of cord, use two drops of glue.
Using the large bit, drill a hole in each corner of the board about 5 cm (2 inches) away from the sides.
Cut your rope into two 90 cm (3 foot) lengths with a utility knife. Thread the ends of one piece of rope through the holes on the shorter sides of the board. Knot the ends. Repeat on the other side.
Take a third piece of rope and thread it through the rope loops connected to the board. Use this third piece of rope to hang your grow light 15 to 25 cm (6 to 10 inches) above your plants. The length of the third piece of rope will depend on how far you want the grow light to hang.
Plug your LED grow panel into an electrical socket.
