How to Make Cardboard Shoes

Updated March 23, 2017

They may not be entirely practical, but cardboard shoes definitely make a statement. Whether you're an environmentally conscious fashionista, an art-and-craftsy type, or you just want to try something different, cardboard shoes are a great way to express your inner hippie.

Trace the sole of the right flip-flop onto the cardboard.

Cut out along the traced lines.

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 five times.

Glue the cutouts one on top of the other.

Repeat Steps 1 to 4 using the left flip-flop. You now have the soles of your shoes.

Once the glue is dry, attach two leather straps across the front of each sole, placing them wherever feels most comfortable for you. Use the staple gun to secure them to the soles.

Tip

For a vegan version of these shoes, substitute hemp straps for the leather straps.

Warning

Cardboard shoes should not be worn in the rain.
