How to make an origami teddy bear

Updated February 21, 2017

Teddy bears have been a beloved stuffed toy since the days of Teddy Roosevelt. An origami teddy bear will be a dimensional item that can be affixed to a child's birthday card or package tag. This adorable paper embellishment would be nice on a scrapbook page. The teddy bear can be easy to make with simple folds. The two sided origami paper will add to the cute look of the teddy bear.

Place paper square on table, white side up.

Fold the paper from one point to another in half to form a triangle.

Fold the triangle in half, crease with the bone folder, and unfold it.

Pull the right hand point to overlap the centre of the triangle.

Fold the left point of the triangle across to the right side.

Fold the left point back about one half inch.

Repeat the fold with the right side.

Fold down both the left and right sides about 1/4 inch wide at the top of the bear head.

Turn the piece over. This is the face area of the teddy bear head.

Fold the bottom point of the top layer of paper up about a 1/2 inch.

Fold the top and bottom points behind the flaps.

Draw a round circle for each eye with a Zig pen.

Draw a triangular shaped nose and a wide rounded W shape for a mouth.

Repeat steps 1 through 9. Turn over the rounded shape with the point side up. Carefully cut a slit in the centre of the back of the head. Insert the point of the body piece into the slit to attach the two shapes.
