Putting a slate pool table back together can be a trying ordeal without the proper help, but taking one apart to move it is far simpler. While the disassembly will not require any advanced technical skills, you should have more than one person on hand to help move the large, heavy slates.
- Skill level:
Things you need
- Socket wrench
- Staple remover
Using the socket wrench, remove the bolts securing the rails to the table and remove the rails.
Remove the staples holding your felt in place with the staple remover. If you intend to reuse the felt, be careful not to tear it in the moving process.
Remove the screws that are holding the slate pieces in place.
Carefully remove the slate with two or more people.
Flip over the table, and use the socket wrench to remove the bolts securing the table legs in place.
Tips and warnings
- Use a plastic sandwich bag to hold the bolts after you remove them to keep track of them.
- Do not attempt to move the slate without enough people to effectively navigate with it. Dropping the slate is dangerous and could also cause the slate to shatter.
