The Daewoo Nubira was available with more than one transmission option. The specific transmission on your Nubira will determine how you check the fluid. If you have a typical transmission, checking your fluid will be easy. But if you have a sealed transmission, you'll need a hydraulic car lift to be able to check the fluid accurately. A quick check with your Nubira's owner's manual will tell you what kind you have, or you can just check under the bonnet and see if there's a transmission fluid dipstick on your engine.

Check in your owner's manual to see if you have a sealed transmission in your Nubira, of if you'd rather, pop the bonnet and check the rear right side of the engine for a transmission fluid dipstick. If you do not see a dipstick or confirm through the manual that you have a sealed transmission, you will need to take your car to a mechanic to have the fluid checked. If you do see a dipstick back there, proceed to the next step.
Drive your car around for about 20 minutes to warm up the engine and thin out the transmission fluid for an accurate reading.
Park the car on level ground and leave the engine running. Pop the bonnet and prop it up with the support arm.
Pull out the transmission fluid dipstick. Wipe it off with the rag and push it all the way back into its hole.
Extract the dipstick again, carefully. Check the fluid level on the stick. You want the fluid level to be right around the line marked "warm full." If it is low, you will need to add more fluid, a little at a time, by pouring it into the transmission fluid dipstick hole using a plastic funnel. If it is dark brown or black and has a burnt odour, it is dirty and should be changed by a mechanic.
Replace the dipstick unless you're going to add more fluid right away. Then close the bonnet.
Tips and warnings
- The reason sealed transmissions need their fluid checked by a mechanic is because they're checked via a check plug on the bottom of the transmission housing, under the car. The car needs to be level when you check this plug, so you can't just jack up one side of the car. It must be raised up on a hydraulic lift or checked from below in an oil change bay.
