The elegant and showy lily flower is a favourite bulb for planting in the garden or to use as a dining room centrepiece. With over 100 species in the lily family, there are many variations of colour and shape. Drawing a lily flower can begin by tracing a photograph featuring a lily.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Go online and search for pictures of the Lily Flower. Use the link available in the Resources section below to find an image.

  2. 2

Enlarge your chosen image to the greatest size possible.

  3. 3

Hold a piece of drawing paper over the flower picture on the monitor. Use the pencil to carefully trace the image onto the paper. Do not press down; you do not want to damage your monitor’s screen.

  4. 4

Remove the paper from the monitor and complete the picture by comparing your drawing to the image on the screen.
