Pin the tail on the donkey is a childhood game that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. It is played by posting a picture of a donkey on the wall. A person is then blindfolded and spun around several times. After loosely being positioned in the direction of the donkey, the participant is then handed a "tail" with a pin attached. Now it's time to pin the tail on the donkey! You can make this game at home in a few simple steps.

Instructions

    Create the Donkey and Tail

  1. 1

Draw a picture of a donkey with no tail on the paper with the pencil. You can find images of a donkey online.

  2. 2

Colour and decorate the donkey to your liking with the markers. Draw eyes, a nose, hair and a mouth on it. You can also add reins and a saddle.

  3. 3

Attach the donkey drawing to the wall with pushpins. Place the donkey at eye level for those who will be playing the game.

  4. 4

Cut 6, 6-inch strands of yarn to make one tail. Tie five pieces of yarn together about one inch from the top with the sixth piece of yarn. Repeat this step another four times to make five tails.

  5. 5

Attach a different coloured pushpin to each tail.

    Playing the game

  1. 1

Wrap a blindfold around the first player's eyes.

  2. 2

Spin the player around three times.

  3. 3

Hand the tail with the pushpin to the player. Point her toward the donkey. Watch as she tries to pin the tail on the donkey.

  4. 4

Remove the blindfold when she has pinned the tail on the paper. Leave the first player's tail pinned on the paper. The colour of her pushpin will signify which tail is hers.

  5. 5

Repeat steps 1 through 4 with the next four players. Whoever pins the tail closest to the donkey's bum is the winner!

Tips and warnings

  • Small children should be monitored when playing with pushpins.
