How to make beeswax sheets

Updated February 21, 2017

Beeswax sheets are wonderful for creating intricate and decorative embellishments for rolled candles. Beeswax sheets can be purchased at any soap or candle making company online, but buying beeswax sheets pre-made is costly. If your enjoy making your own candles, you can create your own beeswax sheets using a simple and cost effective method. Here is a step by step guide to help you make homemade beeswax sheets for creating and decorating rolled beeswax candles.

Fill an empty coffee can with 1 pound of beeswax pellets (See resources below for places to purchase beeswax pellets.) Place the coffee can into the top of a double boiler. Fill the bottom of a double boiler 1/2 full of water. Place the top of the double boiler inside the bottom part of the double boiler, and heat the unit over medium heat until the beeswax melts.

Line a Swiss roll pan with waxed paper. Make sure that the wax side of the paper is facing out. Carefully pour the beeswax from the coffee can into the Swiss roll pan until the wax is 1/8 inch thick. Place the coffee can back into the double boiler to keep the rest of the wax warm.

Let the wax cool completely. Once the wax is cool, carefully lift the waxed paper from the Swiss roll pan. Peel the beeswax sheet from the waxed paper. Repeat this process until all of the melted beeswax has been turned into sheets using waxed paper and the Swiss roll pan.
