Reminiscent of movies like "Troy," the Trojan warrior's costume is easy to recreate and looks fairly accurate when completed. A few modern accessories like shin guards and sandals contribute to creating the historical look needed to resemble a Trojan. This costume can be modified to suit whatever materials you already have at home.

Things you need
- Corrugated cardboard
- Vinyl fabric
- Long white T-shirt
- Fabric to make a cape
- Shin guards
- Fabric laces for the legs
- Gold spray paint
- Plastic sword
Start with a Trojan tunic. It should have short sleeves and be long and straight, falling above the knees. An oversized white T-shirt will work. Wear a pair of tan shorts underneath.
Make a chest armour out of corrugated cardboard and tinfoil. Take two pieces of rectangular cardboard large enough to cover the chest and back. Attach them with two strips of cardboard that fit over the shoulders. Cover all cardboard with the dull side of the tinfoil to simulate metal.
Make the gladiator skirt with a rectangular piece of vinyl from the fabric store. Stitch it together at the waist. Cut the bottom so it falls in long narrow strips that end in points as shown in the illustration.
Cut a simple rectangle from a piece of fabric or use a thin blanket for a cape. Throw it back over your shoulders, and fasten it with a safety pin.
Fashion a helmet from cardboard spray painted gold. Cut a wide piece that fits comfortably around your head, and secure it with tape. Attach a large feathered plume if you want, or leave it plain.
Create a shield out of cardboard in the shape you prefer. Spray paint it gold, or cover it with tinfoil (dull side out). Buy a plastic sword from the dollar store.
Find a pair of leather sandals with wide straps. Create leg armour using shin guards. Cover the shin guards with criss-cross strips of fabric up to the knees.
Tips and warnings
- Corrugated cardboard works best when it's flexible. If yours is too stiff to work with, leave it outdoors overnight in an enclosed area to soften it. Instead of using an oversized T-shirt to make the tunic, you can use a regular white T-shirt and loose white skirt with an elasticated waist.
