How to Remove Write-Protection From a Micro SD Memory Card

Updated April 17, 2017

When a file on a write-protected microSD memory card needs to be deleted, it can be done. First, the card's write-protection needs removed. To perform this, all you have to do is move the switch to the unlock position. This deactivates the write-protection so that any file can be deleted.

Pull the microSD card out of the electronic that it is plugged into.

Hold the microSD card in your hand.

Flip the switch on the left side of the microSD card into the "lock" position.

Place the microSD card back into the electronic.
