How to Make Customized Ringtones

Ringtones can allow you to personalize your phone and are relatively easy to make yourself. Rather than paying $1 for each ringtone, you can make them and transfer them to your phone in just a few minutes using an MP3 of the song you wish to use, your phone's Bluetooth and iTunes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cell phone with Bluetooth capabilities or computer hookup
  • Computer with Bluetooth capabilities
  • ITunes
  • The song or sound clip you wish to use in MP3 format
  1. 1

Open iTune, and pull the song or sound clip you wish to make your ringtone with into the program.

  2. 2

Select the part of the song you wish to make your ringtone with. A 30-second clip works best, and write down the start and end time of the clip.

  3. 3

Right-click the song title and select "Get Info" from the drop-down menu.

  4. 4

Select "Options" from the menu and put down the clip start and end times in the "Start Time" and "Stop Time" forms. Hit OK.

  5. 5

Right-click the song title again and select "Create MP3 Version." This will be the new ringtone.

  6. 6

Connect your phone to your computer, whether through Bluetooth or hard connection, and transfer the files to the media folder on your phone.

  7. 7

Set the MP3 selection you just made as the ringtone on your phone.
