Aluminium clad window trim is strong, durable and can be engineered to make tight window seals. Painted aluminium is easy to care for and only needs to be washed with soapy water regularly to remove surface dirt. Unpainted aluminium can develop stains and a cloudy appearance over time. Pits and scratches in the aluminium attract grease and grime that can be more difficult to remove. Use the following methods to remove stains from aluminium clad window trim.

Buy a bottle of Castrol Super Clean in the automotive department or a hardware store. Put a few drops on a clean, dry cloth and spread on the aluminium. Immediately wipe the Castrol off with another clean cloth. Rinse and dry. Test in an inconspicuous place first.
Gently rub a dampened SOS pad (don't use brillo) over the aluminium. Rinse and dry.
Spray WD-40 on the aluminium window trim and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Treat really tough stains as a last resort by dipping fine steel wool in paint thinner and rubbing onto the aluminium. Use caution. This method might cause scratches.
