How to use home remedies for stiff joints and arthritis in dogs

Updated July 20, 2017

Dogs with joint pain and arthritis look like they are stiff or limping. It is difficult for them to walk normally or rise from a sitting position. This causes the dog to be less playful and act depressed. Relieving the dog of this pain and inflammation is important to maintain its health. Daily walks and home remedies can help get the dog back to normal.

Mix apple cider vinegar into your dog's food and mix thoroughly. One tablespoon is the dosage for a 50-pound dog.

Walk the dog daily to maintain adequate exercise of the joints.

Massage the joints regularly to help increase blood flow and reduce the pain of arthritis.

Fill a hot water bottle. Wrap the bottle in a towel and place it on sore joints.

Exercise the dog in a pool. Water therapy and exercise helps keep joints moving and improve joint lubrication. Warm water helps relax the muscles and reduce pain.

Severe pain needs to be checked and treated by a veterinarian.
