Of the many new factions in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, there are only two which require more than putting on a tabard and running Heroic instances. The Sons of Hodir and the Kalu'ak require a series of Daily Quests in order to boost your reputation with them. Since they have a lot to offer, you'll want to look into working with the Kalu'ak.
- Skill level:
- Moderately Easy
Meet them. You can find representatives of the Kalu'ak in both Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord. Meet with them and perform the initial quests to gain Neutral status with them.
Bring a friend. All of the early Kalu'ak quests are greatly facilitated by having at least one other player along. This will help you get them done faster so you can do the daily quests and will aid you with some of the more arduous quests.
Do the first series of quests. Once you have met the Kalu'ak, you will need to do a series of quests for them that will eventually lead to the daily quest for that area. There are quest chains in Borean Tundra, Dragonblight and Howling Fjord. You will need to complete the quest series in each area to open the Kalu'ak daily quest for that area. There are a total of three dailies you can open up, each of which grants 500 Reputation each time (550 for humans.)
Collect the Flight Points or learn Cold Weather Flying. Because you will want to do all three daily quests as regularly as possible, having a flying mount or the flight points will greatly facilitate your task. You will need to make rounds all across the southern coast of Northrend, from the central area of Borean Tundra, through Dragonblight and down to the southwest end of Howling Fjord. Make sure you grab the flight points at Kaskala, Moa'ki Harbor and Kamagua.
Do the dailies. There are three daily quests that grant Kalu'ak Reputation; one at Kaskala in Borean Tundra, one from Moa'ki Harbor in Dragonblight and one at Kamagua in Howling Fjord. None of them are particularly difficult or time-consuming. Flight times included, all three dailies can be done in under 40 minutes.
Tips and warnings
- Watch out for the Magnataurs in Dragonblight. They are akin to the Fel Reavers of Hellfire Penninsula and the Dragonmaw Ascendants of Netherwing Ledge. They are extremely tough, give little experience in relation to the time require to kill them and drop nothing of value. Avoid them at all costs.
- You can easily kite the Seals for the Howling Fjord daily. Simply remove your weapon and punch-kite the seal to a mate on the other side of the channel, then toss a fish at it. You will buff your Unarmed skill and complete the quest at the same time!
