How to lighten skin naturally

There are many different ways to lighten skin naturally by using common items probably already present in your kitchen pantry. Lemons, buttermilk, egg whites, milk and dried herbs can all be used to make homemade skin lightening preparations. Try some of these easy methods to lighten skin naturally at home, and remove a tan while brightening skin.

Make a natural bleaching mask to lighten skin. Steep one teaspoon dried fennel in one cup of boiling water for at least one hour. Strain the herbal material from the water, and add one tablespoon buttermilk. Apply directly to the skin and allow the mask to remain on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

Make a natural skin lightening cream by combining equal parts lemon juice and egg whites. Heat in a small saucepan over low heat until the mixture thickens. Place in a low tub or jar, label and keep in the refrigerator. Apply directly to the skin and allow the mixture to remain on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing. This treatment may be used daily until the desired skin colour is achieved, and works very well to remove a sun tan.

Use lemon to lighten skin naturally. Soak one slice of lemon in ½ cup whole milk for about 15 minutes. Remove the lemon slice and pat the milk onto the skin. Leave overnight, and wash the skin thoroughly in the morning. This is an easy way to lighten skin naturally, and can be used nightly, as desired.

Use chamomile to lighten skin naturally. Add three teaspoons dried chamomile flowers to one cup of boiling water, and allow the mixture to steep for 10 minutes. Strain the herbs from the liquid, and add one tbsp each of honey and rose water. Apply directly to the skin, and rinse after 15 minutes. This treatment can be performed daily, and any excess solution store in the refrigerator.

Use oatmeal and tomato juice to lighten skin naturally. Both of these food items have slight bleaching properties. Combine one part oatmeal with one part tomato juice, and apply directly to the skin. Leave the mixture on for at least 20 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly. This treatment can be repeated up to three times daily, as necessary.

Tip

Dried herbs and rose water can be found in natural health food stores, or ordered online from reputable retailers. Use organic ingredients, when possible, as they are gentler on the skin.
