Originally from the Native American culture, friendship bracelets are a great gift idea or party favour because they are fun and suit both girls and guys. And they are a good way to show someone how much you value their friendship. If you want to make your friend feel special and appreciated, give her or him a homemade friendship bracelet adorned with personalised touches.

Things you need
- Coloured embroidery floss
- Clear adhesive tape
- Alphabet beads
Choose embroidery floss in three different colours.
Cut a 10-inch piece of each coloured floss.
Put the three strings together side by side and tie a knot at one end of the bundle.
Place a piece of adhesive tape over the knot and attach the bundle of strings to a flat surface such as a desk. This will make it much easier to work with the strings.
Cross the string that is farthest to the left over the middle one. Then cross the string that is farthest to the right over the original left string.
Repeat step 5 over and over until you have a braid that measures about 3 inches.
Tie a tight knot at the end of the braid.
Decide what you would like the bracelet to say, for example "Best Friends" or your friend's name. String onto the floss bundle the alphabet beads that spell out the chosen word(s) in the proper order.
Tie a tight knot after the last alphabet bead to keep it from sliding down the floss.
Repeat step 5 to braid the remaining length of floss until you have about 2 inches of floss left.
Tie a knot at the end of the braid, leaving a 'tail' of about an inch and a half.
Remove the tape from the knot at the top of the braid to release the bracelet. Tie it around your friend's wrist.
