With crochet being all the rage lately, many people are looking for fashionable accessories and quick projects. Rasta tam hats fit both of those requirements. This fashionable crocheted hat resembles a large, fat, floppy beret and is crocheted very quickly using a large crochet hook and working in rounds. If you are new to crochet, then this Rasta tam hat pattern is a great beginner project. You can make it in one solid colour or many colours with multiple stripes.

    Chain 3. Slip stitch in the first chain to form a ring.

    Chain 2. This will count as the first double crochet stitch. Double crochet 11 times in the ring. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 stitch. You will have a total of 12 double crochet stitches.

    Chain 2. Double crochet in the same stitch as the chain. Crochet 2 double crochet in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 stitch. You will have a total of 24 double crochet stitches.

    Chain 2. Double crochet in the same stitch as the chain. Crochet 2 double crochet in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 stitch. You will have a total of 48 double crochet stitches.

    Chain 2. Double crochet in the same stitch as the chain. Crochet 2 double crochet in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 stitch. You will have a total of 96 double crochet stitches.

    Chain 2. Double crochet once in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 stitch. You will have a total of 96 double crochet stitches.

    Chain 2. *Double crochet once in the first two stitches and twice in the third stitch. Repeat from the * around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 stitch. You will have a total of 128 double crochet stitches.

    Repeat step 12 four times. Finish off the yarn end and weave in the yarn to the inside of the Rasta tam hat.
