How to Remove Rubber Marks From a Vinyl Floor

Updated February 21, 2017

You just get the floor swept and mopped sparkling clean and someone walks across it, leaving a trail of ugly black rubber marks. If you have ever spent frustrating time on your knees trying to scrub and remove rubber marks from your vinyl floor, there are easier ways to erase the mess. Put away the abrasives that can scratch the floor and try one of these methods to quickly remove rubber marks.

Wrap a disinfectant wipe around your finger tip and rub at the mark. Continue rubbing to clean the entire spot away. The rubber residue is now on your disposable wipe.

Use a white art eraser or pencil eraser if you are out of disinfectant wipes. You can also use your own shoe as an eraser. Just rub your heel against the mark.

Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol on to a soft cloth to remove a more stubborn set in rubber mark. Rub vigorously at the rubber residue.

Do not use abrasive materials such as steel wool on rubber marks. You scratch and damage the flooring.
