Essential oils are extracted from plants, shrubs, trees, flowers, seeds, roots and grasses. These oils can be misted into the air to produce an aroma that smells like a beautiful flower or the clean, crisp air of a pine forest. In their book "500 Formulas for Aromatherapy," Carol and David Schiller say that aromatic oils have been found in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs who lived more than 3,000 years ago. Today you can use essential oils to bring the aromas of nature indoors to freshen the air.
