Despite its sporty design, the Accord Coupe has been engineered with a great deal of practicality in mind (much like Honda's entire line of cars). In keeping with that, changing the headlight bulb is an extremely simple task: one which any dilettante can perform with a few simple tools and a minimum amount of time. That saves you the additional time and expense of consulting a professional mechanic for the job. You can purchase replacement bulbs for an Accord coupe at any auto parts store: the only real cost of the operation.

Things you need
- Flathead screwdriver
- Small wrench
Turn off the Accord's engine and open the bonnet. It's never a good idea to conduct repairs while the engine is running, even if you're just changing a light bulb.
If you are changing a bulb on the driver's side of the Accord, remove the intake cover by detaching the two fasteners with a small wrench or a screwdriver. That will give you access to the headlight assembly. If the burnt-out bulb is on the passenger's side, you can skip this Step.
If you are changing low-beam headlights, turn the car wheels all the way to the left (for the passenger's side) or the right (for the driver's side, to give you access to the fender cover. Pop the clips off the cover with a screwdriver tip and remove it to reveal the headlight apparatus. Then proceed to Step 5.
Unlock the tab on the electrical connector by giving it a squeeze and then pull the connector away from the headlight.
Grasp the burnt-out bulb and give it a one-quarter turn counterclockwise to detach it from the array.
Place the new bulb in position and give it a one-quarter turn clockwise to fit it into place.
Fit the electrical conductor onto the back of the bulb and make sure it is firmly attached. (If you are replacing low-beam headlights, you can skip this step).
Turn on the headlights to make sure they work and turn them off again.
Replace the intake cover or fender cover if necessary. The holding clips should lock into place by pressing on them firmly. Then close the bonnet.
Tips and warnings
- These instructions are intended for the 2006 Honda Accord coupe. You should be able to change headlights on models of the same era with no variations. Older models may require slight adjustments to the procedure, but should still follow the same basic guidelines.
- Take care not to touch the headlight bulb itself with your hands. The oils on your finger tips could cause the bulb to burst when you turn your headlights on.
