How to Make a Lampshade Cover With Beads

Homemade decorative accents, such as beaded lampshade covers, soften the lighting in your home while enhancing its interior appearance. Knowing how to make a lampshade cover with beads provides you with an enriching project that can result in beautiful lamp accents throughout every room in your home, with a variety of colours, textures and styles.

Measure the circumference and height of the lampshade you are covering. To do this, first measure up and down with the measuring tape, and then measure all the way around the widest part of it.

Cut a rectangular strip of fabric measuring the dimensions of the lampshade. Choose any material you desire, to complement your decor scheme or contrast it.

Squeeze a series of thin glue lines over the underside of the fabric strip. Make a thin criss-cross pattern with the glue over the entire strip of fabric.

Adhere the strip of fabric, carefully, to the lampshade. Smooth out any creases and wrinkles as you do this. This creates the lampshade cover.

Hold a bead between the pincers of the needle nose pliers and apply a small dot of fabric glue to the back of it. Adhere it to the desired part of the lampshade cover. Repeat this step until you achieve the look you want.

Use a stencil of any design you wish to guide you with placement of the beads. Use a variety of beads such as small colourful seed beads, crystal beads and glass beads with intricate designs in them.
