When searching for chilli sauce recipes, you are going to come across plenty of hot ones, but not so many sweet ones. Not everyone enjoys a spicy chilli sauce and some can't eat it due to medical reasons. It is also fun to make a different version of chilli sauce to appeal to some of your other taste buds. The children in your family will taste the sweet chilli sauce and prefer it over any hot stuff. Either way, this is one good sweet chilli sauce recipe.

Things you need
- Large pot
- 1 (794gr.) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 can tomato paste
- 1 small onion
- 1 1/2 green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- Pepper to taste
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- Frying pan
Cut up the onion and bell peppers as small as possible. Use a food processor if you have one.
Sauté the onion and bell pepper in a frying pan. Make sure to spray the frying pan with a little cooking oil first.
Add the fried onions and pepper to a large metal pot.
Add crushed tomato, tomato paste, sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper, cinnamon, allspice and chilli powder. Mix thoroughly.
Cook on medium heat for 2 to 3 hours. The longer you leave it, the more the flavours have time to blend.
Tips and warnings
- Add ground meat and kidney beans at the beginning of the cook time in the sauce and cook all together for a complete meal.
- Use pot holders when handling the hot metal pot.
