The Turkish Puzzle Ring is a unique piece of jewellery that is usually available in two styles: the 4-band puzzle ring and the 6-band puzzle ring. These rings look nice, until its time to clean them and the whole ring falls apart into four different rings that are all linked together. This can be an especially difficult scenario if the clerk at the jewellery store never explained to you how the puzzle is solved. If you think your ring is ruined and will never be the same, take a deep breath, calm down and then continue reading to learn how to solve 4-band puzzle rings.

  1. 1

Locate the two V-shaped rings. The 4-band puzzle ring consists of four individual rings that are linked together. Two of the rings have a crooked design, while the other two have a distinctive V shape. Having identified the V rings, hold them together so that the Vs are at the top, with the tips on opposite sides like greater than/less than symbols. The other two rings are left to dangle below.

  2. 2

Slide the other two rings on the bottom so that the crooked edges are resting at the top side. The two should criss-cross one another to make a rough X design. They will still be dangling below the two V shaped rings, but it is important that you get them into this position.

  3. 3

With the two rings criss-crossed on the bottom, grab the ring that is on the bottom and twist or rotate it. When you do this, the two rings that were dangling will now fit together in the shape of a figure-8. The two V rings, which you are still holding in position, will be running through the holes in the 8-pattern.

  4. 4

Take one of the V rings and slide it around, until the point is upside down under the figure-8. When it is in this position, lower the band of the ring so that it locks into position with the two rings that form the figure-8.

  5. 5

Slide the other V ring around until its point is in the correct position under the figure-8. Again, lower the band onto the other bands. Once this one is in position, all four rings will now be interwoven in a way that makes a single piece of jewellery. Your puzzle ring has been solved.

Tips and warnings

  • Do not try to force the pieces into place. If you bend the puzzle ring it will never fit together properly. If you have trouble getting the pieces to fall into place, try to loosen your grip or adjust the spacing of the other pieces.
