Tall boots are have been in fashion for decades, but some women's calves are too large to fit in the boot shaft. Women such as this who want to wear tall boots can stretch the shaft in several ways.

Take your boots to a cobbler to have the shaft stretched. They have methods to stretch a boot and knowledge of how much they can stretch your boot shaft.

Purchase a metal boot stretcher from a speciality footwear company.

Spray the boot shaft with leather stretching spray.

Insert the metal stretcher into the boot and slowly tighten it.

Try on the boot after two days; try it again every two days until the fit is perfect.

Put on the tight boots and wear them until the leather stretches out.


Before wearing your new boots, take them to a shoe repair shop to get advice on whether the shaft can be stretched.


Test the stretching spray on a hidden part of the boot to test the leather and fabric for colour-fastness.
