Dressing like Tinker Bell can be fun for little girls year-round. Some women can even pull off such a costume for a masquerade ball. Prepare yourself for some looks if you do, but it will be worth it. Tinker Bell is the fairy hero of "Peter Pan." While she is a lot of fun, she gets jealous of Wendy and Peter together. Fairies are small so they are only able to hold one feeling at a time so feel free to exhibit slight mood swings when playing the fairy Here is how you can create a fun and beautiful Tinker Bell costume.

  1. 1

See the movie Peter Pan, attend the play and read the book. Do all three if possible. They will likely all lend you a different side to this character of Tinker Bell that you can take into your costumed portrayal.

  2. 2

Get a pixie cut, or buy a blond wig that is cut pixie-style. This is a simple but very important part of the costume. Tinker Bell can't have long, brunette hair. She needs short, blond hair.

  3. 3

Visit a Disney store. If you live in Orlando or Southern California, consider going to a Disney Theme Park. You are sure to find inspiration and accessories from their many Tinker Bell themed merchandise. If you do not have a store or theme park in your area, you can find everything you need online.

  4. 4

Get a short, green pixie dress. This can be altered to what you are comfortable wearing. Children should have a longer version that is shown on the fairy, and adults are advised to do the same. The bottom of the dress should be cut in a zigzag pattern for instant Tinker Bell recognition. Use your imagination here, but don't go too far from the original creation. After all, you are in costume as Tinker Bell.

  5. 5

Get the shoes together. Adults should wear heels that are coloured to match the dress. For children, Disney sells jelly shoes with Tinker Bell's face on them. Since these shoes match a costume, it is best to wear them. You could choose sparkling flats as well. Since shoes weren't really a part of Tinker Bell's costume, yet are necessary for us humans, use your imagination a lot here. Do what makes you happy.

  6. 6

Add simple accessories to this costume. You should wear stud earrings of emerald or another stone that sparkles. Wear a simple matching necklace or no necklace at all. Fairies don't have a lot of time for jewellery with all that flying around.

Tips and warnings

  • Try on several sorts of pixie dresses before you pick the right Tinker Bell costume for you.
  • Don't wear a pixie skirt that is too short, or you risk looking like a mockery of this mythical character. Doing so can lead to reactions that you do not want on Halloween night.
