These pantyhose flowers are surprisingly beautiful and make breathtaking decorations whether for your home, or a party. They are sure to amaze your friends, and they're a lot of fun to create. Give it a try, and you'll be hooked instantly!
Bend the wire around the detergent bottle lid, or soda can, to make a circle that is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap part of the wire around itself after creating the circle so it will stay. Continue with the other 5 wires.
Buy pantyhose in the colour you want to use for your flower, or dye it. To dye the hose, take white pantyhose and wet it. Put the desired colour of light paste food colouring into a bowl and add about a cup of water. Then dip the pantyhose into the bowl and make sure the water covers it. After a minute take it out and allow to dry.
Dye green pantyhose for the leaves, using green Rite dye. Mix 2 cups water with one teaspoon white vinegar and one teaspoon or tablespoon of Rite dye depending on how dark you want the colour to be. Dye as you would with the flood colouring.
Cut one knee high so that the toe part and the thick top part are gone. Fold it into three sections and cut. You should now have three pieces. Make one cut on each piece so that you can fold it out, like a square, instead of it still being attached, like a circle. Do this with another knee high. You will not have to use all six pieces, so you can save the extra for another flower.
Take one piece of coloured hose and stretch it across the circle in your wire. Pull down loose corners until it is stretched out smooth and tight. Tape at the bottom with floral tape, and cut off excess. Wrap the tape around covering all the extra pantyhose. It should look like a stem. Repeat this with 3 more petals, and do the same for your 2 leaves, using green hose.
Take the wire and, holding the circle in your hand, gently squeeze so it elongates into a petal shape. You can mould it into the desired length and shape.
Grasp the petal with your four fingers on top and your thumb underneath, and bend down slightly.
Put the four petals together, with a Favor Accent in the middle, and tape with floral tape. Add the leaves below and tape. Here is a picture of the Favor Accents so you'll know what to look for.
Take a large piece of floral tape and wrap around the rest of the wire to create the stem.
Bend the flower into the shape of your choice, and you're done!
Make sure your pantyhose are wet when dying!
Coke can must be full to use. Make sure not to puncture the can with the wire!
