Things You'll Need:
- Drink Safe test kit
- Computer
- Internet connection
-
Step 1
Purchase drinks directly from a bartender when at a bar or club. One way that date rape drugs are slipped into beverages is when someone offers to get you a drink. They can easily get the drink and then quietly slip the date rape drug into the glass before giving it to you. You should also avoid ordering drinks from waitress or shot girls as the date rape drug can also be put in these drinks, unbeknownst to the waitress.
-
Step 2
Refuse beverage offers by individuals that you do not know or that are in an open container. If you are at a party and someone offers you an open beverage, refuse. Only accept closed containers while at a party. This includes avoiding pitchers or bowls of a beverage as these can easily be spiked with a larger dose of the date rape drug which can be potentially lethal.
-
Step 3
Hold your drink at all times. Do not put a drink down or out of your sight and then come back to it. If you need to leave the area, take your drink with you. If you leave your drink, order a new one and do not return to the beverage that was left unattended.
-
Step 4
Listen to the conversations that are happening in your area. Sometimes word will get out that someone who is known to have one of the date rape drugs is in the club or at the party. If this is the case, leave the party immediately. It is not worth the possibility that you could fall victim to someone using rohypnol, ketamine or GHB.
-
Step 5
Purchase a Drink Safe test kit, which will test for the presence of commonly used date rape drugs in your beverage (see Resources below). The kits can determine whether these previously undetectable drugs have been placed in your drink.
