  1. 1

Measure yourself in the morning when you are at your thinnest and again at night when you are at your fullest. That way you can split the difference on the tape measure, and find the size that will be the most comfortable.

  2. 2

Stand straight and be relaxed when you measure yourself. Do not suck your waist in as far as it will go. Just stand straight and breathe naturally. Place the tape measure around the thinnest part of your waist. Do not pull the tape measure tightly. Leave it snug, but not too tight.

  3. 3

Make sure you have the tape measure the right way around. Read the numbers and write them down so you don't forget.

  4. 4

Compare the measurement to see if it matches a favorite pair of jeans that fits you well.

  5. 5

Go shopping for that new pair of jeans that will flatter you and make you feel good.

Tips and warnings
