A Blue Hawaiian sunset

The Blue Hawaiian is a cocktail that includes a fairly extensive ingredient list and necessitates some hardware to produce it properly. It makes up for these cumbersome aspects by being one of the better cocktails you're ever likely to taste. It is, for all intents and purposes, a Hawaiian sunset at the beach that's served frozen in a glass. Here's how to make your own Blue Hawaiian.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

2 oz. coconut-flavored rum
1 oz. blue Curacao
3 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. cream of coconut
1 Slice of Pineapple
1 maraschino cherry
Ice
Pint glass
High-speed blender

Making Your Own Blue Hawaiian

Step 1

Fill your pint glass about half full with ice.
Step 2

Dump the ice from the pint glass into your blender.
Step 3

Add the coconut-flavored rum, blue Curacao, pineapple juice and cream of coconut to the blender.
Step 4

Place the blender's lid firmly on top and blend the mixture on high until it is completely smooth and uniform.
Step 5

Pour the mixture into your pint glass.
Step 6

Garnish with a slice of pineapple on the rim of the glass and a maraschino cherry on top of the Blue Hawaiian.

Tips & Warnings

In order to make a truly delicious Blue Hawaiian, or any other frozen cocktail, you'll need a very good high-speed blender. Otherwise there'll always be chunks of ice left in your drink, and the drink will begin to separate after a few minutes.
When it comes to ice, less is better. If you haven't added enough ice at the beginning of the preparation of the Blue Hawaiian, you can always add more later on to thicken the mixture up.
For best results, use crushed ice instead of ice cubes when preparing the Blue Hawaiian.
Drink in moderation and never drink and drive.
