The LiveStrong Challenge is an event put on by the LiveStrong Foundation, the organization founded by cancer survivor and world-renowned cyclist Lance Armstrong. Participants in the event can walk, run or bike to raise money for the fight against cancer. All sorts of volunteers are needed to pull off these big events.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check out the LiveStrong Challenge website to find out how to get involved as a volunteer. Volunteering requires registration, but no fee unlike event participants who do pay a fee. Find your local event. There are four events to choose from around the country. Send an email to the address listed for volunteer guidelines.

  2. Step 2

Decide the work area in which you could offer your skills and services. If you are a business, there are many ways to become involved at the event or for the event. Donate bottled water or serve food at the event. If you are an individual, volunteer to help with registration or pass water out to the participants.

  3. Step 3

Go through volunteer training. It is important to be adequately trained, which is why most volunteers are now trained by the organization before the events take place. This will teach you more about the organization, the event and the purpose of the fund raising, which allows you to more expertly carry out your volunteer duties.

  4. Step 4

Show up on the event day, ready to help. You will be assigned a role before the event and will be told who to check in with when you arrive. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring a bottle of water.
