Vuze is an open-source Bit Torrent client that allows for the downloading and distribution of video and audio files. It can also be used as a platform to view video content. Video content is downloaded into files and may contain an .SRT subtitle file. Users can play video from Vuze via an Xbox, and loading the subtitle file is an easy process.

Turn on your TV, Xbox and computer. Make sure your computer is linked to your Xbox either remotely or via cable.

Launch Vuze on your computer. Next to the “Devices” label, click “Turn on.” An icon for your Xbox will appear in the menu.

Ensure that the .SRT file in the movie download folder has the exact same name as the video file. For example, if the movie is labeled “AGoodMovie.divx” or “AGoodMovie.avi” the .SRT file must read “AGoodMovie.srt.”Rename the file if not.

Drag and drop the movie file you wish to play from your Vuze directory onto the Xbox icon. Vuze will convert the files for Xbox playback.

Sign into your Xbox. Navigate to “My Xbox Channel” and select “Vuze.”

Find the movie file and select it. As long as the .SRT file has the same name as the video file, it should play with subtitles automatically.

TIP

If you do not already have the subtitles for the movie, you may be able to find them at a free subtitle website such as OpenSubtitles or Free Subtitles. Search for the movie you want subtitle for and download the .SRT file. Save it to the file containing your movie file. If necessary, rename the subtitle file so that it matches exactly the name of the movie file.

If there are several subtitle files within the movie folder, you can switch between them via the subtitles menu under the “Languages” tab in the Vuze player.
