EBay is an extremely popular online auction website through which any user can buy or sell almost anything, from cars to antique dolls. But with popularity comes problems. Some buyers offer to "settle outside of eBay" (something that is expressly prohibited), while some sellers set up false advertisements and send items that were not what was listed; sometimes these sellers don't send items at all. Here is how to file a complaint on eBay against such members and to report other problems and complaints should they arise.
Open your web browser of choice and navigate to eBay.
Sign in to your eBay account using the text link located to the right of the eBay logo at the top of the main page.
Find the drop-down menu entitled "Help" in the top right-hand corner.
Find and click on "Security and Resolution Center" under "Help."
Select from the options in the radio-button menu on the page that comes up ("Item Not Received," "Unpaid Item," "Spoof (Fake) Email," or "Report Another Problem") and select "Report Problem."
Fill out the corresponding forms with the appropriate information.
Have your information in clear and concise format and somewhere easily accessible before filling out a complaint form on eBay. If you are submitting an "Item Not Received" complaint, it must be more than 10 and less than 60 days after the listing ended. If you are submitting an "Unpaid Item" dispute, most require a waiting period of 7 days after the listing ended. You cannot file an "Unpaid Item" dispute on listings older than 45 days. If your "Spoof (Fake) Email" or "Report Another Problem" cannot be solved using the help system, don't be afraid to click "Email Us" and fill out the form appropriately.
