Take your black cardboard. Cut out a large circle for the brim of a black top hat. Cut a hole in the centre of the circle that's big enough for the rim to sit comfortably on your head. For the main body of the hat, cut out a rectangular piece of cardboard. Make sure it's long enough to form a roll that fits inside the brim of your hat. Glue the edges of your roll of cardboard together. Apply glue generously around the inside rim of the hat brim and insert the roll of cardboard into the rim. Apply more glue around the seam to secure the hat then leave it to dry.
Roll a sheet of A4-sized orange paper into a cone shape. Glue the ends together. Cut the length of it so that the wide end fits over your nose. Make two small holes at either side of the carrot nose and thread the elastic string through the holes. When you're ready, you can attach the nose to your face by tying the two ends of string at the back of your head.
Sew the large black buttons to the front of your white suit in a line. Three or four buttons should be enough depending on their size.
Put on your oversized white tracksuit or onesie. Pad it out with scrunched up plastic bags to give yourself a big round belly and legs. Be sure to wear something comfortable underneath the tracksuit so that the plastic bags don't irritate your skin.
Draw black circles around your eyes with black face paint to make them look like pieces of coal. Attach your nose, put on your black wellingtons and hat and you're good to.
