How to recover an MSI laptop to original factory settings

As with any make of laptop, MSi comupter owners sometimes get to a point where they need to wipe everything out and start again. This might be because the computer has been infected by a virus or Trojan, or because you want to sell or give the computer to someone else. In this instance, the easiest way to put your laptop back to its factory settings is to use the F3 recovery utility.

    Turn on the laptop and press the “F3” key before the operating system has a chance to kick in. This will start the computer in recovery mode.

    Use the arrow keys to highlight the message “Windows Setup [EMS Enabled]” and press the “Enter” key. This will open a window. Click on “msi Recovery Manager.” In the next dialogue box press the “OK” button, and then in the next, click “OK” again. You will then see a progress bar. Do not interrupt the process, which will last between 10 and 30 minutes.

    Wait for the confirmation message telling you that the system is fully recovered. This process has restored the computer to its factory settings. Click on the “OK” button to close the message.
