How to reset an Epson SX-105

Updated July 20, 2017

The Epson Stylus SX105 is a multi-function device that can print, scan and photocopy. Although the machine will usually do exactly what it's meant to, like all technology it can fall victim to a glitch -- and of course that will happen just when you need to use it most. There are a few quick checks you can make to try and identify the problem. If all else fails you can reset the machine and in most cases it should start to work properly again.

Check that the ink cartridges are not empty. Open the Epson utility software by clicking on the printer icon on the task bar at the bottom of your computer screen. Click on properties and check the ink indicators on the next screen. Replace any ink cartridges that are empty.

Look at the paper feeder to make sure there's no paper jam. If there is, switch the power off and unplug the printer from the mains then carefully pull the paper out, switch the power on and try printing again.

Hold down the power button until the machine powers down. Wait a couple of minutes and then switch the device on again with the power button. Try printing again. If your Epson is still not working you may need to take it into a computer repair shop.

Never put your fingers inside the device without unplugging it from the mains.
