Instructions

    Exporting insight data report

  1. 1

Login in to Facebook using the email address associated with the page for which you are an admin. This may be different to the email address associated with your personal Facebook account.

  2. 2

Go to your Facebook group page. For example Facebook.com/myfanpage. This brings up the page, but at the top of the browser window is also an analytics panel. Click the drop-down button with the gear icon. Select View Insights.

  3. 3

Adjust the date range using the drop-down menu. You can identify this menu by looking for a menu tab with today’s date. If you to export member information from the day you set up the page, select the earliest available date. Alternatively, you may wish to simply export information from the previous week, month or year.

  4. 4

Click “Excel” to select Excel as your preferred export format and then click “Export.” This exports all the available insight data about members of your fan page, including how many people like your page, how many people unlike your page on a given day, how many people interact with your activity and even how many people have given your page daily feedback. The resultant Excel file may look a little untidy.

  5. 5

Click your cursor at the top of a column, then drag right to expand it to tidy up cluttered columns. While the insight data is informative and provides details on engagement and reach, it is anonymous. Facebook doesn’t provide an option to export the names of Facebook group members, but you can manually export the required information into a blank Excel document.

Manually exporting list of people who like a page or group

  1. 1

Navigate to the relevant page or group. Under “Likes,” click “See All.” This opens a drop-down list of all Facebook users that have liked this page or group.

  2. 2

Highlight everything inside the drop-down list. Then copy it to your clipboard, either by hitting CTRL and C or by right-clicking and selecting Copy.

  3. 3

Open a plain text editor, such as Notepad. You can do this either from the Start menu or from your desktop if you have a shortcut there.

  4. 4

Paste the list into the plain text editor by pressing CTRL and V. Delete all text from the editor, such as “People who like this page,” apart from the list of names. Copy the list back to your clipboard.

  5. 5

Paste the list into the plain text editor by pressing CTRL and V. Delete all text from the editor, such as “People who like this page,” apart from the list of names. Copy the list back to your clipboard.
