Like all social media, Twitter can be a great way to keep up with your mates -- provided you're following them and they're following you. If somebody isn't following you back, he's clearly uninterested in what you have to say, in which case you may as well unfollow him. It's hard to have a conversation with somebody who isn't listening, after all. Whilst you can check if somebody is following you by attempting to send him a direct message, doing so can be extremely time consuming, especially if you follow a lot of people. Fortunately, many third-party applications exist to make the process easier; which you use largely depends on your personal preference.

    Friend or Follow

    Navigate to the Friend or Follow homepage (see Resources)

  2. 2

    Type your Twitter user name in the text box and click "Submit." You may have to wait a few seconds for the list of people who don't follow you to appear.

    Click the photo of each person in the list to open his profile page on Twitter. Hover over the blue "Following" button to turn it into a red "Unfollow" button and click to unfollow that person.

    ManageFlitter

    Navigate to the ManageFlitter homepage (see Resources).

    Click "Sign In."

  3. 3

    Click "Connect to Twitter" and click "Sign In" to allow ManageFlitter to connect to your Twitter account.

    Click the "Select Plan" button for the free account type. You may have to wait a few seconds for the list of people who don't follow you to appear.

    Click users you want to unfollow to select them, and then click "Unfollow Selected."

    JustUnfollow

    Navigate to the JustUnfollow homepage (see Resources).

  2. 2

    Click "Sign In With Twitter" and click "Sign In" to allow JustUnfollow to connect to your Twitter account.

    Enter your email address in the text box and click "Get Started."

    Decide whether or not you want JustUnfollow to automatically tweet daily follower statistics for you and click either "No" or "Yes," depending on your choice.

    Wait for the list of people who don't follow you to load.

  6. 6

    Click the "Unfollow" button corresponding to each person you want to unfollow.
