Whether you bought Microsoft Office on a DVD, downloaded it from Microsoft’s website, or got it as a pre-installed utility when you bought your computer, the entire suite can be re-installed by downloading it from the Microsoft Office website. Individual elements of the suite, like Word and Excel are also available from the site. You cannot install the program on a second computer unless you have a licence that specifically allows that. However, you can re-install the suite in event of loss through a hard drive crash.

Things you need
- Product Code or PIN code
- Internet connection
Locate your Product Code. This should be a 25 digit number printed on a sticker. If the program was already installed on your computer when you bought it, the code will either be on a sticker underneath, or at the back of the computer, or it will be stuck to a card that came in the box with the computer. If you downloaded the suite, you should find the Product Code in a confirmation email received at the time you bought the product.
Confirm that the Product Code has 25 digits. If it has 27 digits, it is a PIN number. Retrieve your Product Code by entering the PIN number in Microsoft's “Get Microsoft Key” Web page.
Go to the “Backup” page of the Microsoft Office website. This page applies to all versions of Microsoft Office, even though it may display the logo of the latest version. You will only be able to download the version you bought. If there is a newer version available, you should download your original version and then upgrade later.
Click the “Download” button. An installation file will download onto your computer. When the download completes, click on the downloaded installation program and follow the instructions to re-install Office.
